***Updated June 19***
IUSD Chromebooks that were checked out for Emergency Distance Learning this Spring were due on June 12th.
IUSD collected Chromebooks for ten days between June 1 - June 12, operating seven locations for returns and sent out multiple reminders. If you were not able to return your device during that window, we'll be operating several locations for makeup returns the week of June 15th. We will have limited staffing this summer and must get the devices back as soon as possible.
Unaccounted for devices will be locked on June 19th.
Please contact us at email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
All Chromebooks that were checked out were loaned by our school sites, not from any Districtwide inventory. We need to make sure they get returned to their homes so those schools are able to start the school year with technology for their students. Our team needs to inspect, sanitize, repair, and reassemble into the carts that go in our classrooms prior to students' return to campus.
Open Return Locations week of June 22:
Beacon Park, Meadow Park
Hours of Operation: 8 am - 3 pm
- Check-ins will no longer operate via a drive-thru
- You must park and walk up to our Support Center.
- Remember to bring the charger with the Chromebook or hotspot
- Please wear a face covering when interacting with our staff
*Portola HS, Jeffrey Trail, Woodbridge HS parents, please follow the instructions your school sent you for device returns.
***IUSD & IPSF Summer School Students***
You do not need to return your device now if you will need it for online summer school, however, you must fill out our Summer School 2020 Access Form with the service tag of the device to let us know you will be using the device for a little longer. It can be found on the bottom of the Chromebook (see image below). We will set up another return window for you after summer school is completed.
Q: Do I need to return the device now if my student is attending IUSD Summer School?
A: No, you may continue to use the device for summer school and return it in July, but you must fill out the Summer School 2020 Access Form.
Q: What if I checked out a device directly from my student’s school?
A: Look for directions for returns coming from your student’s school.
Q: What do I need to bring to return?
A: Please bring both the Chromebook and charger. If you checked out a hotspot, please bring the hotspot and charger back in the original box.
Q: Will the returns be walk-in or drive up?
A: As of June 15, all returns are now walk-in. After two weeks in the sun, our team needs a break to work indoors.
Q: Do I need to return the Chromebook to the same location I picked it up from?
A: No, please return it to whichever open location is most convenient for you.
Q: Can I return the Chromebook to my child’s school when I pick up/drop off other materials?
A: No, we kindly ask that you return it to one of our schools listed above. We won't have IT staff present at other sites to take in these devices and get them back to where they belong.
Q: What if I picked up the equipment from different locations?
A: You may return all equipment to one location. However, if you checked it out directly from a high school, we ask that you follow their instructions for return.
Q: Can I keep the device in case schools open in Distance Learning in the fall?
A: In the event that we are unable to return to school as normal, we will set up new device checkouts for the fall, likely from the site your student attends. Please return the device you borrowed so we can work this summer to get our schools ready to reopen.
