***Updated July 22***
SUMMER SCHOOL RETURNS
If you checked out a device or were granted an extension for Summer School, your device is due back by July 27th. These devices were loaned out from a handful of schools and we need to collect them back to prepare those schools for reopening in August. Our team needs to inspect, sanitize, repair, and inventory these devices to ensure each site will have enough devices to meet the needs for the coming school year.
- All IUSD and IPSF summer school programs will have completed by this date, and no further extensions will be granted.
- You may not hold onto it until school reopens even though we will be opening in a Distance Learning model.
- We will handle device checkouts for the 20/21 school year directly from your enrolled school site. When we return to in-person instruction, that device goes back with your child to the school it belongs to.
Check-ins will no longer operate via a drive-thru
- You must park and walk up to our Support Center.
- Remember to bring the charger with the Chromebook or hotspot
- Please wear a face covering when interacting with our staff

IUSD Chromebooks that were checked out for Emergency Distance Learning this Spring were due on June 12th. We still have not received all of these devices back. We granted a 6-week extension for Summer School Students and it is important that these get returned to us this month.
IUSD collected Chromebooks for ten days between June 1 - June 12, operating seven locations for returns and sent out multiple reminders. In addition, we were accepting walk-in returns for two additional weeks at our Tech Support Centers. We will have limited staffing this summer and must get the devices back as soon as possible. If you were not able to return your Chromebook during one of the return windows, please email helpdesk@iusd.org and we'll arrange a time and place for you to return your device.
FAQs
Q: Can I keep the device since schools will open in Distance Learning for the fall?
A: No, please return the device you borrowed so we can work over the next month to get our schools ready to reopen. We will set up new device checkouts for the fall from the site your student attends, but have a lot of inventory work to do in the next month to prepare for the new Academic models for 20/21.
Q: Can I keep the device for my student to work on enrichment activities until school returns?
A: No, we granted the 6-week extension to students who weren't officially enrolled in an IUSD summer school program, but now need to receive this device back to allow time for our team to do their work.
Q: What if I checked out a device directly from my student’s school?
A: If you checked out a device directly from your school, follow their instructions. Sites that operated a take-home program prior to Emergency Distance Learning are allowing students to keep their devices.
Q: What do I need to bring to return?
A: Please bring both the Chromebook and charger. If you checked out a hotspot, please bring the hotspot and charger back in the original box.
Q: Will the returns be walk-in or drive up?
A: As of June 15, all returns are now walk-in.
Q: Do I need to return the Chromebook to the same location I picked it up from?
A: No, please return it to whichever open location is most convenient for you.
Q: Can I return the Chromebook to my child’s school when I pick up/drop off other materials?
A: No, we kindly ask that you return it to one of our schools listed above. We won't have IT staff present at other sites to take in these devices and get them back to where they belong.
Q: What if I picked up the equipment from different locations?
A: You may return all equipment to one location. However, if you checked it out directly from a high school, we ask that you follow their instructions for return.
