What is the purpose of this tutorial?
Review the steps to create multi day events and the different ways these type of events appear based on the method used to create. There are two primary ways to create multiple day events on Google Calendar. Need the basic? Learn more about the basics.

Primary Use: Great for consecutive day events such as breaks, multi-day school trips or camps

Primary Use: Great for identical repeating days that repeat or recur such as minimum days or conference week.

Method 1: Span Event
This is a single event that stretches or spans multiple continuous days.
Appearance on ParentSquare (Span)

- event appears as a single item in the month and list view

- span events are repeated every day in the list view and single dots in the mini calendar
- single day includes list of dates included in the Span
Creating Span Events in Google Calendar
1. Click and drag your desired dates
*dates must be continuous (no skipped days)
2. Change/update your dates (if needed)
- After you click/drag and release a span event, the event can not be "re-dragged" to adjust the range. To update your dates, simply click on the date section to edit your beginning and ending dates
3. Fill out the rest of your event information and Save.
Method 2: Repeating Event
This is a single event that is repeated multiple times.

Creating Repeating Events in Google Calendar
There are 2 main rules for creating repeating events:

The events must be identical (All Fields)
- When updating, apply changes to the FIRST event and when you Save, apply to "All Events" or "This and Following events"
- Do not click and drag repeating events on Google Calendar. This functionality is not currently not supported for repeating events.
1. Create your date
- Click on the first day of your repeating event
2. Choose "Custom" Repeat
- Click on the date section
- Click on "Does Not Repeat" drop down and select "Custom"
3. Select your Recurrence Frequency
- Select (1) how often you would like your event to repeat and (2) at what interval
4. Select your Recurrence Ending
- Lastly, select when the repeating event will end. Select either (1) an ending date or (2) a number of times to repeat your event. Then click "Done"
5. Updating a repeated event
Updates to repeating events must be identical.
- Edit the FIRST event
- After clicking "Save", apply to "All Events or "This and Following Events"
