WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS TUTORIAL?
This tutorial demonstrates how to create whiteboards aligned with California K-12 standards using the Learn Grid feature.
Canva's Learn Grid is a dedicated learning platform with thousands of curriculum-mapped resources and AI- powered activity creation. These are organized by grade, subject and learning outcome.
Step 1: Accessing Learn Grid
- Once logged in to Canva, select the Learn Grid icon at the top of your dashboard
- You can also access Learn Grid by selecting Templates, and then selecting Learn Grid
Step 2: Creating a Whiteboard
- Scroll down the page, then select the Whiteboard icon
Step 3: Select Your Learning Standards
- State based standards are pre-loaded into Canva
- Select grade
- Select subject
- Choose topic
Step 4: Creating a Whiteboard with AI Using a Prompt
- Enter a prompt for the type of whiteboard you would like to create. Be sure to include as much detail as possible including:
- Grade level
- Subject
- State (California)
- Name of learning standard
Step 5: Using AI Whiteboard Templates
- Canva has several whiteboard templates available. To customize these templates, select a format option.
- Next, select your grade level, standard and subject.
- Several topic options will then populate.
- Select Create activity with AI when ready.
- After a few moments, you should see a pop-up indicating that your activity has been created.
- Click on the title to view the worksheet.
- Review the worksheet for accuracy and relevance to your current lesson plan.
- All fields and design elements are editable and can be further customized.
Step 6: Assigning Your Whiteboard
- Select the Assign button in the upper right corner
- Select how you would like your students to access the worksheet from the drop down menu
Assigning Via Link
- Once you've made your selection, include any instructions in the text box.
- Select Continue
Assign to Students in Canva
- Selecting Assign to Students in Canva will generate a pop up window as shown below
- Select your class
- Include your instructions in the text box
- Select Assign
Sharing your Assignment
- Once you have select the Assign button, you will see a pop-up with an option to copy the link, get assignment code or go to classwork
- Selecting the get assignment code option will generate a unique code that you can share with your students
Step 7: Accessing Your Assignments
- Selecting Go to classwork will bring you to your assignments folder.
- You can revisit any assignments created by selecting Classroom and then clicking onto Assignments
