WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS TUTORIAL?
The purpose of this tutorial is to show students and staff how to access Encyclopedia Britannica online and save resources to their “My Britannica” account. This tutorial will also highlight some of the additional resources available to IUSD’s users.
Please note that students accessing this way will need their school generic user login if they are not on the district network.
Step 1: Log in to Google Chrome
- Log in to your IUSD issued Chromebook and open the Google Chrome browser or log in to Google Chrome by following these instructions
Step 2: Access iusd.org bookmarks folder
- Once you've signed in to Google Chrome, select the iusd.org bookmarks folder in the upper left corner

- Select the Encyclopedia Britannica link
Step 3: Select Grade Level
- Students will the need to select Elementary, Middle or High School
Step 4: Search by Keyword or Subject
In the search bar, type in a term (e.g. owls) and click on "view all results".
Step 5: Article Settings
Once you've found your subject, there are various settings within each article
- Adjust reading level
- Cite, Save, Send or Print the article
- Toggle to gallery images or related articles
Toggle the resources panel to the "B" position to access the following features:
4. Change font size
5. Change article text to open dyslexic font
6. Translate the article into another language
