WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS TUTORIAL?
This tutorial will show users how to create an account and use an eBook from the Proquest eBook Central collection, an eBook subscription database (over 12,000 titles) to support multiple subject areas (English Language Arts, Science, Math, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education, Information Literacy and Technology). This database has been purchased by the State of California Library for all school districts and is intended for users 13 years of age and up.
Step 1: Navigate to Proquest
When logged into a device while on the district network, go to the URL: https://iusd.org/ebookcentral
Click on the “Sign In” button on the top right corner. You must be on the district network to create a login. Once you create the login, you will be able to access the site remotely.
Step 2: Create account
Click on the “Create Account” button.
Create your account by filling in the form. Your district email address becomes your username.
Step 3: Browse selection
You can search for titles in several ways including the option to browse by subject.
Step 4: Select eBook
When you choose a book, you will have the option to read online or to download (for up to 3 weeks), or share by link.
Step 5: Reading platform tools
When you are reading the book, you will have tools available to you including notes, highlighter, share by link and citations.
