WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS TUTORIAL?

This tutorial will show users how to login to the Sora app for Overdrive, which is the IUSD collection of high-interest fiction, and some non-fiction, ebooks. The Sora app can be found on IUSD’s student iPads. Users can also add the app manually on their own devices. 

Step 1: Click on the Sora app on the iPad

Step 2: Tap the green “Find My School” button. 

Step 3: Search for your school

If you don’t see your school name in the tiled view, tap the “My School isn’t listed”  option at the bottom of the screen. 

Start typing in the name of your school and then tap the green button, “This is My school” if it is the correct school. Please note that the search includes the whole country so verify that it is your school in Irvine before you tap. 

Step 4: Sign in 

Sign in using your regular computer username (without the @iusd.org) and password.

Step 5: Searching for an ebook

On the home page, you will be able to search by title or browse by subject.  Tap on a book to preview it. You can check out up to 3 ebooks at a time and they will automatically return at the end of 2 weeks. 

Step 6: Signing out

When you are ready to sign out, click on the “hamburger menu” at the top right and then “signout” .
