WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS TUTORIAL?
This tutorial will show users how to take a screenshot or selection on their Chromebook, and manually upload these screenshots from their Chromebook to their Google Drive.
Step 1: Take a Screenshot or Select
- On your Chromebook, pressing Ctrl + Show Windows will take a screenshot of your entire screen. Pressing Ctrl + Shift + Show Windows will allow you to capture a selection on your screen.
Step 2: Navigate to Files
-
In the bottom right corner of your screen, you should see confirmation that your screenshot has been saved. The screenshot will automatically copy to the clipboard if you would like to paste the image in another location.
-
You can also choose to edit the image to crop, rotate, or annotate to add any additional details, delete the image if it did not turn out the way you wanted it, or select Show in folder to navigate directly to where the image is saved.
- From here you can see all of your downloads and any screenshots that you have taken.
Step 3: Upload to Drive
- You can upload any of your screenshots to your Google Drive. In your Drive, select New in the top left, then File Upload.
- Select the desired files in the Downloads folder on your Chromebook and click Open.
- The screenshots are now in your Google Drive. You can now organize them, upload them elsewhere, and/or share them with others.
Troubleshooting
- After taking a screenshot, the notification will only pop up for a short moment, so if you are unable to select any of these options, you can navigate to the default location that screenshots are saved by clicking the Launcher in the bottom left corner of your screen, then typing “files” in the search bar. If the Files folder is pinned to your Chrome shelf, you can access it from there.
