WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS TUTORIAL?
This tutorial will show users how to link their IUSD Google Account to their Canvas course and access an assigned ebook. This linking is a one-time process and then after this, users can search for and access MackinVia ebook resources through Canvas.
Step 1: Login to Canvas
Login to your Canvas course at https://iusd.instructure.com
Use your computer login format without the @iusd.org
Step 2: Navigate to MackinVia
Choose your course within Canvas and then look to your left navigation bar. Select the MackinVia link.
Step 3: Sign in to MackinVia
Once you open a MackinVIA resource in Canvas, it should look like this. Select “sign in” to start your MackinVIA session.
Sign in here with your IUSD Google login and “allow”. You may need to refresh in order to load the MackinVia collection.
Step 4: Return to Canvas
Close the MackinVia window and return to Canvas. Click refresh if needed.
Note that users can also login through the MackinVia URL.
Step 5: Select Assignment
Find your MackinVia Backpack on your MackinVia homepage
Click on the backpack and then “assignment”.
Step 6: Enter Assignment Code
Enter the assignment code (6 digit) your teacher or librarian has given you and then click on the arrow.
Step 7: Open eBook
Note that you can see the dates you will have access to the assigned ebook. To open the ebook, click on the title during the assigned date range. Your teacher may have additional instructions.
